Did you know Santa deliver’s toys by boat as well? Anglers with hearts full of Christmas spirit take a ride every year from Freeport to Port O’Connor to deliver boatloads full of toys. This was our 2nd year and the Toy Run’s 16th.
Rain or shine (and we’ve been lucky to have it sunny and 75 both years) toys are collected and delivered to the Adopt-An-Angel program in POC! Partnered with Tri-Construction Inc, we were able to fill the Contender’s front full with bags of goodies. And we were not the only boat full, over 30 boats made the trip 72 nautical miles down the coast to help out fellow Texans.
Loaded up and ready to go!
Flying our flags with pride!
After all the toys are unloaded, we started getting the boat ready for the lighted boat parade which is always a lot of fun. So many kids line the banks waiting for goodies to be thrown. Beads, glow necklaces, candy canes and santa rings were included in the loot we tossed this year.
If you didn’t have a chance to help out this year, don’t fret, next Christmas will be here before you know it and we will be asking for donations from elves just like you! We’d like to again thank all who donated a gift as well as our crew who made the trip.
(I didn’t make this video but it’s a neat showing of how the whole day plays out.)
